Qualifications | |
VISTA Members live and serve in some of our nation’s poorest urban and rural areas. With passion, commitment, and hard work, they create or expand programs designed to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. VISTA Members must be creative, flexible, and collaborative individuals and have the long-range vision to achieve the goals of the Cesar E. Chavez Service Programs. Generally, in order to perform these tasks successfully, the following skills and qualifications for the VISTA Member are:
• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
• Computer literacy
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Experience with resource development
• Experience in developing and implementing projects
• Must utilize own vehicle or public transportation for field work
• Experience with youth
• Experience leading others, especially in a diverse environment
• Foreign language skills, especially Spanish
