There are two types of assistance available in every region of California:
Regional Service-Learning Leads
provide leadership and collaborate with others to build capacity for service-learning and youth service in their regions. Leads convene regional events; engage K-12 schools, districts, community partners and individual practitioners in planning and coordination efforts; and represent their regions at the state level. Regional Leads also promote and support cross-service connections between K-Higher Education practitioners and other national and community service activities in each region. Organizations and individuals are encouraged to contact regional service-learning leads to learn more about what is happening in the region and get involved in regional activities.
Certified Service-Learning Trainers
- Lead workshops and institutes in your school/district/region to expand knowledge of high quality service-learning and to provide practical guidance for service-learning projects.
- Serve as advisors to your local or regional program.
- Explore and test ways to obtain financial support for expanded service-learning professional development for your district/region.
- Work with the Regional Lead and Technical Assistance Coordinator to create a collegial system of Certified Trainers, Model Practitioners, and other leaders to develop a sustainable support network for service-learning in your district/region.
- Work with you and your Regional Lead to design and develop a comprehensive regional professional development plan.
- Help you and your Regional Lead develop connections with other organizations involved in youth service and education.
