The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) and the National Service Learning in Teacher Education Partnership (NSLTEP) are leading a project to work with other national, regional, and state groups to support the further development of high quality service learning programs in all types of teacher education institutions.
As the Far West Regional Coordinator for this project, YSCal offers a wide variety of services to professors and others involved in teacher education to help them integrate service learning into their teacher credential programs. Specifically, we offer:
- Technical assistance and consulting support for developing, implementing, and evaluating service learning components of courses, practicums, and student teaching.
- Guidance on conducting portraiture research on service learning projects.
- Contact information for publications, curriculum materials, multi-media resources, and people involved with service learning.
- Assistance in making connections with the new International Center for Service Learning in Teacher Education (to be located at Clemson University in South Carolina).
